Another cool video of Steve Lukather and Steve Morse jamming out to Little Wing. Morse solos in the first video, and it’s interesting to see his use of the volume control and pickup selections to get different sounds. Makes my usual theory of “put the volume on 10 and use the neck pickup for the solos” seem a little basic [superemotions file=”icon_lol.gif” title=”Laughing Out Loud”]
Next up (after young Ernie Ball does his bass solo) Lukather (after starting with “that lick” ;)) goes bananas:
Cool stuff!
Steve Morse explains a great little harmonic technique he uses to get a pedal steel type sound:
Raphael Fraser recorded a cover of Eric Clapton’s song Forever Man, and asked me to add some guitar solos to it (at around 1:16-1:44 and more in the outro as well). Here’s the video on the YouTubes:
Interesting notes on the video (from me):
All in all, lots of fun and a good outcome I reckon.
I was looking at some videos of Elmwood guitar amps, and came across this simply awesome bit of shredding by Todd Duane:
That is some nice legato right there folks [superemotions file=”icon_cool.gif” title=”Cool”]
A really nice video from Greg Howe talking about improvisation. I especially like the way he breaks down some of the thinking behind what he was playing.
Also, very interesting is that this video mentions the fact that Greg does online guitar lessons! Now that would be cool.
A really nice version of this fantastic piece of music. Great use of harmonics.

Interesting list, embarasingly there are several tracks on there that I haven’t heard before [superemotions file=”icon_redface.gif” title=”Redfaced / Embarassed”] I was thinking about what my top 10 would be, but most of them end up being Vai or Satriani songs [superemotions file=”icon_lol.gif” title=”Laughing Out Loud”]
I’d be considering such things as:
Always With Me, Always With You – Joe Satriani
For The Love Of God – Steve Vai
Apache – The Shadows
Walk Don’t Run – The Ventures
Friends – Joe Satriani
Cry For You – Andy Timmons
Eruption – Eddie Van Halen
Yngwie Malmsteen – Trilogy Suite Op. 5
Ahh, there’s too many good guitar instrumentals [superemotions file=”icon_cool.gif” title=”Cool”]
